About AFC: Fundraising Internship The AIDS
Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is seeking a Reporting to the Development Associate, the intern will work closely with members of Development Department staff in the detailed planning of AFC special events and fundraising activities, including a black-tie gala featuring a raffle and silent auction, a holiday event, a summer art event, and much, much more. The intern will also have the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of non-profit grant writing, direct mail programs, and corporate and individual donor research. Qualifications: Qualified candidates will be able to devote a minimum of 8 weeks, and a minimum of 15 hours per week, subject to staff needs and intern availability. The intern will be required to travel to the Loop for daily activities. Some travel around Chicago may be needed, but will not require a car. The intern must have computer skills including Internet and word processing on Microsoft Word and WordPerfect programs. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access, as well as other database and spreadsheet programs is helpful. Willingness to work as part of a team is a must. Marketing, non-profit management, public relations, public policy, political science, English, literature, writing or liberal arts majors with a sincere interest in special event management or a desire to learn about non-profit fundraising are encouraged to apply.
