About AFC: Program Training Internship

The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is seeking a Program Training Intern to support technical assistance activities for Ryan White-funded and ORS -funded case managers and their supervisors in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Past Program Training Interns have assisted AFC's Program Department in developing its cultural competency training. Potential training programs to be developed include integration of substance use and mental health services with HIV/AIDS case management; service coordination for incarcerated clients; and developing effective outreach mechanisms targeting at-risk individuals through prevention and care.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Training Intern will be expected to:

  • Assist with appropriate needs assessment surveys by distributing provider surveys, scheduling consumer focus groups, reviewing training evaluations and preparing reports about the process and results
  • Assist in identifying materials and curricula for the trainings
  • Assist with identifying and coordinating outside speakers
  • Assist with planning meetings, including developing announcements, sending out agendas, and keeping accurate minutes
  • With relevant program staff, conduct quality assurance site visits to management service providers and provide written reports of findings

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree combined with some course work in clinical techniques or social services. Interest and/or experience in HIV/AIDS services strongly preferred. Qualified candidates will be able to devote a minimum of 8 weeks, and a minimum of 15 hours per week, subject to staff needs and intern availability. Knowledge of the internet, word processing, and spreadsheet programs very helpful.

Stipend: A stipend may be available to interns who meet specific requirements. Please inquire.
