HIV/AIDS Advocacy in the Heartland
Midwest AIDS Policy Alliance
The AIDS Foundation of Chicago, in partnership with the Minnesota AIDS Project, launched the Midwest AIDS Policy Alliance (MAPA) in 2005, to link together Midwestern AIDS advocates and strengthen their policy work. MAPA currently counts ten states (IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, NE, OH, and WI) and fifteen agencies as active members dedicated to advancing sound HIV/AIDS policies in their individual states. Through sharing winning strategies, best practices, and organizing tools, MAPA participants are putting HIV/AIDS on the agendas of state and federal policymakers.
