AFC and CHAMP Release New U.S. HIV Incidence Talking Points

Centers for Disease Control and PreventionAFC and the Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Project (CHAMP) have teamed up to put together a concise list of talking points ahead of the anticipated release of new U.S. HIV incidence estimates this year. Click here to download the document.

In November and December 2007, national media outlets confirmed that CDC has developed a new incidence estimate that might be as high as 60,000 infections per year, but was delaying publication ofthis number in order to have it appear first in a peer-reviewed medical or scientific journal.

With the release of the new numbers anticipated sometime in 2008, it is important for community organizations to be able to adequately respond to both supportive and critical reactions to the news.
