SPC Forum Focuses on Affordable Housing Development

Steve Saunders of Featherfist

Housing developers, landlords, AIDS advocates, and housing and social service providers gathered on March 10, 2003 for a daylong forum entitled "Affordable Housing: Profitable Supportive Solutions." Sponsored by the Housing Committee of AFC's Service Providers Council, the forum provided participants with informational resource and ideas to foster new collaborations among for-profit developers and non-profit AIDS and housing organizations. Organizers hosted the forum to spur the development of affordable housing options for low-income people with disabilities including people with HIV/AIDS. Throughout the day, participants heard about successful affordable housing models, funding streams to support affordable housing development, and strategies to broker partnerships between banks, housing providers, and service professionals. Peter Holsten of Peter Holsten Development and Brian M. Rowland of A Safe Haven delivered the day's keynote addresses.
