What?

AIDS Run & Walk Chicago is AFC’s grassroots fundraising event where people from all walks of life change the story of HIV by raising awareness and funds to support those living with and vulnerable to HIV. As beneficiaries of the event, AFC and our CommunityDirect partners are greatly impacted—beyond just the obvious way.

All three courses (5k Walk & Roll, 5k Run and 10k Run) will feature breathtaking views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan. You will find water stations placed along all courses with additional refreshments available at the finish line.

Dogs are welcome on the race routes, but please bring supplies to cleanup after your furry friend! The Walk/Roll course is ADA accessible and strollers are permitted on all three courses. We respectfully request that dogs and strollers begin at the back of the corrals for safety reasons.

How?

People from all walks of life join together to raise funds from friends, colleagues, family and community members. With the power of D.I.Y. fundraising, participants have raised over $6 million to support living with and vulnerable to HIV.

There is no fundraising minimum to participate as an in-person supporter.

Campaign Theme

The future in which people living with and vulnerable to HIV or chronic conditions will thrive is possible, but we must be accountable in creating it. Show Up, Show Out pushes us to be there for each other and live as our authentic selves. As we see an increase of negative and hateful rhetoric towards the LGBTQ+ community, we must be accountable for the impact we make, we must arrive when we are needed and we must loudly celebrate the diversity that is us. Simply put, we must Show Up, Show Out.
