The Bridge Project

The Bridge Project collaborative sought to reduce hurdles to getting an HIV test by placing testers in convenient locations. Established in 2011 in partnership with four Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) offices on the South Side of Chicago, the Bridge Project placed HIV test counselors and recruiters at DHS offices and provided free, rapid HIV testing on a weekly basis to individuals seeking services at those sites. The program ended in 2015 but the tool kit is available so that organizations and jurisdictions can replicate the program.

Project Elevate

AFC and the Chicago Department of Public Health, Chicago Public Schools, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Planned Parenthood of Illinois launched Project Elevate, an innovative sexually transmitted infections (STI) prevention and treatment campaign created by and for young women of color and young transgender women of color in Chicago that encouraged young women to take control of their health. The three-year project supported the planning, implementation and evaluation of innovative, interdisciplinary interventions to reduce STD disparities, decrease barriers and stigma, promote sexual health, and advance community wellness. Read more.
