What is AIDS Run & Walk Chicago?

AIDS Run & Walk Chicago is AFC’s grassroots fundraising event where people from all walks of life change the story of HIV by raising awareness and funds to support those living with and vulnerable to HIV. Over 2,000 people will Show up and Show out to Soldier Field on Saturday, September 28th in support of AFC and our 30+ community partners

Who benefits from AIDS Run & Walk Chicago?

Funds raised through AIDS Run & Walk Chicago benefit AIDS Foundation Chicago and its community partner organizations. Individuals join as member of CommunityDirect teams are raising fund for their respective organizations.

Is there a minimum to participate?

Aside from the $50 minimum associated with the “Stay-at-Home Supporter” option, there is not a fundraising minimum. However, we encourage all participants to set a goal and strive to achieve it. Participants who fundraise are eligible to receive a variety of prizes and perks!

Donation Questions

To whom should donation be made out?

Please make all checks out to “AIDS Run & Walk Chicago”.

Can I mail cash or check donations?

You may mail or drop off cash donations at AFC offices or deposit the cash into your checking account and send a personal check from your account. Please mail donations to the following address with an attached Offline Gift Form.

Are donations tax deductible?

AIDS Foundation Chicago (RW) is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We’ll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.

I haven’t received a receipt for my donations. What should I do?

What is a “Stay-at-Home Supporter”?

You can register as a Stay-at-Home Supporter for $10 and fundraise from afar for the cause! A fundraising minimum of $50 is associated with this participation type.

I registered for the wrong team; can I change teams?

If you’ve already registered but are on the wrong team, email us at [email protected] and let us know which team you’d like to switch to.

How do I log into my 2024 AIDS Run & Walk Chicago Page?

You can log into AIDS Run & Walk Chicago 2024 using your same username and password as your AIDS Run & Walk Chicago 2023 page.

I forgot my username and password. How can I log in?

Your username will always be the email address you used to register. If you forgot your password, click on the “Forgot Password?” link on the classy login page.

How can my friends and family find my personal fundraising page?

You will be able to send emails, texts, and Facebook posts with your individual fundraising page URL. All of this can be done from the participant center.

Team Questions

What are the team designation?

AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has 3 team types; Open Teams, CommunityDirect Teams, and Corporate Team.

Open Teams

All AIDS Run & Walk Chicago participants can form a team with friends, family, or community groups. Are you an AFC Advocate? Do you love AFC’s mission and vision? Put the FUN in fundraising by signing up as an AFC Fundraiser and creating an AFC Fundraising Team! Anyone interested in AIDS Run & Walk Chicago can put a team together in support of AFC’s mission and vision.

CommunityDirect Teams

Member of AFC’s Services Providers Council can benefit from AIDS Run & Walk Chicago through the CommunityDirect Program, the event’s flagship program. This program supports Chicago-based HIV organizations in raising funds for their own programs and services. Between 90-92% of total funds raised by CommunityDirect team are returned to the partner agency. Since 2005, AFC has returned more than $2.6 million in funds to participating HIV/AIDS service providers. Learn more about the program here.

Corporate Teams

Forming a corporate team for AIDS Run & Walk Chicago give your company the chance to support a life-saving cause while fostering internal camaraderie, encouraging leadership, and educating employees on every level. AFC Is eager to help local corporations and community members live their truth, remove stigma around HIV, build relationships, and create memories that will last forever. This team option is right for you if your colleagues/affinity network/ERG want to engage in fun events supporting the LGBTQ+/BIPOC/HIV+ communities and practice both personal and corporate philanthropy.
